What is a Fiduciary?

Someone that is legally required to work in their client’s best interest.

What does it mean to be Fee-Only?

It means that they are a fiduciary and they do not receive commissions. You will know what you are paying before you sign up.

Where can I find out how much I am paying?

The best place to look is in the ADV Part 2, there will be a Fee Schedule in there. A good financial firm will list their fees upfront on their website. Maranantha Financial has a fee of 0.75% and Betterment’s fee is 0.20% so it is 0.95% annually.  This is only charged on assets we manage.

Will I pay trade commission fees or trade fees? 

No commissions, no trade fees.

Do I need to sell my current positions to transfer to Betterment? Will this incur a taxable event?

Yes, you will need to have your portfolio in cash to transfer into Betterment. If your assets are held in a taxable account, then yes they will be taxable.

What is the minimum balance to open an account with Maranantha Financial?

The system is set to handle accounts from $250 – $3,000,000.

How do I know which investment model is right for me?

You will have the ability to change the model if you need to but it’s a function of your risk tolerance, goal for the account and amount of time you have for the money. We will help you with this decision and recommend an allocation for you.

What is an ETF?

ETF stands for Exchange Traded Fund, it is simply a basket of stocks, bonds and cash that is put together for investors as a low-cost way to invest.

What should I know about ETF vs. Mutual Fund costs?

Mutual Funds have internal costs that are on average more expensive that ETFs.

How long does it take to transfer money to Maranantha Financial? 

If you’re opening an account, you will be able to FUND the account via bank link, wire, check or transfer.  Typically a transfer will take 7-14 days, we will need a recent statement and you will need to sign a transfer form. After opening your account, we will start the transfer process.

Can I choose to add individual securities to my portfolio?

If you are looking to add individual securities, we’ll have to put them into one of our TD Ameritrade or Motif platforms.  You can set this up by contacting us at support@maranantha.com
